About ARROWS
ARROWS (Advancing Retention through Research Opportunities for Workforce Development in STEM) is more than just a program, it’s a transformative experience for college students. This program empowers students to gain hands-on research experiences in STEM disciplines, all while receiving guidance and mentorship from renowned faculty and industry professionals. Not only do students develop valuable skills applicable in future workplaces, but they also gain a deeper understanding of how research impacts their academic and career goals.
ARROWS also provides students with access to a wide range of leadership conferences, presentations, and networking opportunities within the STEM workforce, allowing them to build lasting connections that will benefit them throughout their careers. In addition, ARROWS offers informal learning environments that foster student engagement and improve their competence in robotics/autonomy, cybersecurity, AI, ML, and data analytics through mentorship, professional workshops, and presentations.
Diversity and inclusivity are at the forefront of ARROWS’ mission. The program is dedicated to recruiting and supporting underrepresented minorities in STEM fields. ARROWS also offers guidance and resources for post-graduate professional development, ensuring that students have the necessary skills to succeed in their careers.
The DARTS (Developing and Advancing Research Through STEM) program is an extension of ARROWS, targeting high school students and inspiring them to pursue STEM disciplines. By offering hands-on activities and project-based learning experiences, DARTS aims to make STEM accessible to underserved populations and those with limited access to STEM resources. DARTS also visits advanced placement high schools and early colleges to increase outreach and recruit underrepresented minorities.
